DeanColumns take an old product and improve it making it stronger, easier to use and achieve code compliance.

We are now stocking DeanColumns with along with their Lally Lock System.

Dean concrete-filled columns are made from 16ga tubular steel and are available in 3 1/2" and 4" (we stock the 3 1/2") outside diameter.  An embedded fastening unit which includes, a 6" anchoring bolt threaded into a 1 1/4" coupling nut and steel disc with a 9/16" hole, is welded to the inside of the steel tube.

The steel tubing is manufactured from low carbon steel complying with the requirements of ASTM A513 with a yield strength of 32,000 psi and an ultimate strength of 45,000 psi.  The tube is filled with concrete having a minimum 28 day compressive strength for 3,000 psi.  The columns are then painted with one coat of gray primer.

If you use the DeanColumn with the appropriate Lally Lock system you can fulfill the following requirements of the International Resisidential Code (IRC).

  • R502.90 Fastening--Floor framing shall be nailed in accordance with Table R602.3(1).  Where posts and beam or girder construction is used to support floor framing, positive connections shall be provided to ensure against uplift and lateral displacement.
