Lapointe Lumber

Has been named the business of the year by the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce.

"It is a huge honor for us to be chosen as business of the year by the Chamber of Commerce!", said Peggy Lord, president of Lapointe Lumber.

She went on to say that as a family business going into its fourth generation the honor is not only for Lapointe Lumber but the honor is especially for our employees, our loyal customers and our families.

Everyone had a great time at the Banquet January 28th.  Honored guests, beyond all the deserved award recipients, included Governor Lepage and former Governor McKernan.  Senator Snowe and Senator Collins also attended and spoke.

Of course the highlight of our evening was when Senator Susan Collins gave a wonderful speech about Lapointe Lumber getting the Business of the Year Award.  Then Peggy gave a very heartfelt acceptance speech that everyone enjoyed very much.

We are all very thankful to the Kennebec Chamber of Commerce for honoring us with the award.

Our appreciation of the award is made greater by the fact that the people and businesses that were present intimately know the hardwork, determination, and good fortune that it takes to run a successful business.

They understand that their business is not only responsible for their dreams and well being, but also those of their employees, their customers and their families.  Beyond that, and this is where the business people in the area set the bar real high, they realize the importance of their support to their community.

One only has to visit the Piggery road in the summer and read the names on the t-shirts of the teams playing, or you only have to walk through the new Cony H.S., the Alfond Cancer Center, the Y, the new Augusta Trails area and you'll see many of their names represented. We are very proud that Lapointe Lumber is also included in that group of names.

We're glad that when we've been asked to step up to the plate we've been able to help, maybe not with a home run but that we helped as much as we could.

We know that on January 28th 2011, Lapointe Lumber had a chance to stand out from this group, but it is far more satisfying for us, to be part of a group that stands out.

We also realize that running a business is not automatic. It is a constant day to day, transaction to transaction commitment to fulfilling the expectations of our customers, our employees, our families and our community.

As we state in our mission statement we always try to be conscious of the fact that we won't ultimately be known or successful by the promises we make, but by the promises we keep.
